In Mashhad, Iran, the PHC services collaborate closely with representatives of the community to understand the constraints, so as to adapt the intervention to people’s needs and capacities. Health promotion and nutrition advice are tailored to persons with low income who can hardly afford to buy healthy food. Regular visits by the nutritionist and social worker to the market and discussions with shopkeepers and beneficiaries allow to identify appropriate affordable and acceptable season food items.
